Where can I rent a porta potty in Elgin?
Right here. Elgin Porta Pros is a porta potty rental company that serves the city and the towns around it. We deliver to job sites, backyards, parks and event grounds. If you're standing on the property, we can tell you where the unit should sit and how close the truck needs to get.
Our core rental pool covers four unit types. A standard portable toilet for crews and general use. A deluxe flushable unit for guests who want a sink and a foot flush. An ADA accessible unit for wheelchair users. And a restroom trailer for weddings and larger events.
Not sure which you need? Start with the rental checklist or the placement guide. We'll walk you through it. Many people rent the wrong thing because nobody asked how many people would use it. We ask first. See our service areas for the full delivery map, or read about us.
What does portable toilet rental cost in Elgin?
| Unit type | Day | Week | Month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 100 - 350 | 130 - 500 | 125 - 325 |
| Deluxe flushable | 85 - 1200 | 150 - 290 | - |
| ADA accessible | 200 - 400 | 120 - 240 | - |
| Storage container | - | - | 100 - 250 |
Delivery is billed separately, usually 50 to 150 dollars for a weekly rental. Weekend event rates on a standard unit run higher, around 250 dollars. A restroom trailer for a weekend event is a different order of cost, so we quote those one at a time.
The porta potty rental cost depends on how long you keep the unit and how often we service it. Longer rentals cost more overall, but the daily rate drops. Ask about dumpster or temporary fence pricing if you need those too.
How fast can you deliver?
Most orders land within 24 to 48 hours. If a pipe broke or an event lost its restrooms, call about emergency service and we'll move faster. A standard unit is about 44 by 48 inches on the ground and stands about 92 inches tall, so we need a clear, level spot to set it.
Delivery timing depends on where the unit goes. Backyard home renovation jobs are simple. A construction site with a locked gate needs someone there to let the driver in. Placing a unit in the public right of way needs confirming with the City of Elgin first, and we won't guess a rule that isn't published.
Planning an event? Book early. Weddings, festivals and concerts cluster on the same weekends, and inventory tightens. A restroom trailer especially needs lead time. Read the permit guide before your date so nothing stalls at the curb. For urgent situations, emergency rental is a phone call.

Which porta potty do I need?
Depends on who's using it and for how long. A standard unit works for crews, camping and casual events. It has a 60 to 70 gallon holding tank, which covers about a week of normal use before service. This is also called a porta john or a portable restroom, same thing.
A deluxe flushable unit adds a flush and a sink. Good for weddings and nicer events where guests expect more than a basic stall.
An ADA accessible unit meets ADA Standards section 404.2.3, which sets a 32 inch minimum clear door opening, and section 304.3.1, which calls for a 60 inch turning circle inside. Under ADA Standards section 213.2, at least 5 percent of clustered units, and never fewer than one, must be accessible. The ADA requirements guide explains it.
For big head counts or upscale settings, step up to a restroom trailer. We stock 2-stall, 4-stall and 8-stall trailers, plus a shower trailer.

How does service work?
We drop the unit, we service it on a schedule, we pick it up. Service means pumping the tank, refilling supplies and cleaning. The baseline under ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 is one visit per week for up to 10 users on a 40 hour week. Heavy use needs more visits. See how often units are cleaned.
Worried about odor? A serviced unit doesn't stink. The tank holds a deodorizing charge and we pump it out on schedule. Read do porta potties smell and how porta potties work if you want the details.
For construction crews, OSHA 1926.51(c) sets the toilet ratio: one facility for up to 20 workers, then one seat and one urinal per 40 workers above that. The OSHA requirements page breaks it down, and how many do I need does the math for you. In winter, we adjust servicing for the cold.

What else can you deliver to a site?
More than toilets. We run roll-off dumpsters in 10, 20, 30 and 40 yard sizes. A roll-off delivery needs about 60 feet of straight clearance behind the truck. Check dumpster sizes, weight limits and what can't go in before you load.
Need to keep tools dry? A storage container locks up on site. We stock 20ft and 40ft boxes and mobile office trailers.
We also rent temporary fence, including chain link and crowd control barriers, plus light towers and temporary power poles for the site.
Handwashing matters on any construction job. Under 29 CFR 1910.141(d)(2), washing facilities need soap and towels or a dryer, and hand sanitizer alone doesn't satisfy it. Rent a handwashing station, a portable sink or a sanitizer stand. See handwashing requirements.

Do you pump septic tanks in Elgin?
Yes. Elgin Porta Pros runs septic pumping and tank cleaning across the area. A residential septic tank is typically pumped every 3 to 5 years, driven by tank size and household size. The how often guide helps you plan, and septic pumping cost covers the price.
Catch problems early. Slow drains and backups are covered on the warning signs page. If it's backing up now, call emergency septic service.
For restaurants, we handle grease trap pumping. A grease interceptor gets pumped when fats, oils, grease and solids reach 25 percent of the liquid depth. We also rent a holding tank when a site has no sewer connection at all.

Where do you deliver around Elgin?
Elgin first, then the towns nearby. We reach Carpentersville 8.4 miles north, Streamwood 10.0 miles east and Hoffman Estates 11.9 miles east. Farther out, we serve Bartlett 12.2 miles southeast and Palatine 20.0 miles east.
We handle events of every size around Elgin, from a golf tournament to a county fair to a marathon. We cover farm and agricultural sites, film sets and disaster relief work too.
Under OSHA 1926.51(a)(1), an adequate supply of potable water is required in all places of employment, which is why a handwashing station belongs next to every unit on a work site in Elgin. Check the full service areas list, read the FAQ, or contact us to book.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a standard porta potty rental?
A standard unit runs from 100 to 350 dollars for a single day and 130 to 500 dollars for a week. Monthly rentals bring the daily rate down. Delivery is billed on top. See the cost page for the full breakdown.
How often do you service the unit?
Once a week is the baseline under ANSI/PSAI Z4.3, for up to 10 users on a 40 hour week. Busy sites and events need more frequent visits. We set the schedule when you book. More on cleaning frequency.
How many toilets do I need for a construction site?
OSHA 1926.51(c) sets one facility for up to 20 workers, then one seat and one urinal per 40 workers as the crew grows. The OSHA requirements page and the count calculator work it out for your crew size.
Do I need a permit to place a unit?
On private property, usually not. Placing a unit in the public right of way needs confirming with the City of Elgin, and we won't quote a rule that isn't published. Read the permit requirements page before your delivery date.
Can you deliver on short notice?
Often yes, within 24 to 48 hours for standard units. For a broken system or a lost restroom before an event, call emergency rental and we'll prioritize it. Trailers need more lead time, so book those early.
What comes in a deluxe flushable unit?
A flush mechanism and an internal sink, which a standard unit doesn't have. It suits weddings and nicer events. Day rates vary widely by season and demand. See the deluxe flushable page for what's included.
How often should I pump my septic tank?
Every 3 to 5 years for a typical residential tank, depending on tank size and household size. Grease traps go by volume, pumped at 25 percent of liquid depth. The how often guide and warning signs pages help you decide.
